Mr. William Ray Brown, Greenwood, passed away on the early morning of Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was 87. William was born February 27, 1935 in Evansville, Indian, a son of the late Vernon and Oma (Rogers) Brown.
William attended Evansville Central High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1953. He had been employed at P.R. Mallory Company as a mechanical engineer and retired in 1975 after over 15 years of service. After that, he worked at Jefferson Proving Ground as an artillery tester from 1979 until the closing of the location and then worked as a greeter at WalMart.
A true outdoorsman, William enjoyed anything that would involve being outside. He loved taking family trips across America and was known to always find the good restaurants along the way.
William enjoyed sports especially Indiana University basketball and the Chicago Bears. William was a great father and was always there for his children's activities. He could usually be counted on to tell a good story. William was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church and sang bass in the choir.
William is survived by his children. Bill Brown, Jr., Cindy (Keith) Glasscock and Cheryl Brown; his grandchildren, Nikki (Aaron), Matthew, Toby (Ashlei) Ashley (Wayne), Mary Rose, Jason (Kim) and Danille (Brent); his great-grandchildren, Luci, Caleb, Xander, Emillee, Cameron and Bennett; his siblings, Jan Duggins, Doris (Dick) Dausman and Steve (Punkin') Brown as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife of 65 years, Rosemary (McNeely) Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Kyle Adamson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm, Wednesday, June 23, 2022 at the funeral home.
