William Korkos, 84, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012. Bill was born on January 7, 1928 in Lower Burrel, PA to the late Paul and Sylvia (Pokusa) Korkos. Bill was both a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army veteran. He married his love Doris Bowman on June 16, 1951.
Bill was an electrical journeyman for IBEW #481 for over 50 years; working mainly for Barth Electric Company. Bill was a giving, loving, caring, and dependable man, husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and employee. He always had a smile on his face and always lent a hand to others. Bill enjoyed hunting. Bill was a member of the American Legion as well as the Pittsboro Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Doris Korkos; their children: Michael Korkos (Deb) and Doreen Lowery (Frank); daughter-in-law Christina Korkos; 7 grandchildren: Shane Lowery; Ryan Korkos; David Lowery; Sam Lowery; Emily Korkos; Andrew Korkos; and Linsay Korkos; 3 great-grandchildren: Riley Korkos; Jacob Lowery; and Reese Korkos; and a nephew, Kenny George.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son Mark William Korkos; and sister Helen George.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Pittsboro Baptist Church, 201 S. Maple St, Pittsboro, IN. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Mitch Davis officiating. Burial will take place in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Pittsboro Baptist Church.
