Obituary

William R. "Bill" Moore, 79, of Indianapolis died Monday, February 23, 2009. Bill was born in Indianapolis on May 21, 1929. Mr. Moore was the owner of Custom Models, Inc., a machine shop in Irvington for 38 years. Bill was a Marine in active and reserve duty for 30 years, retiring in 1977. He was a First Sergeant and a member of the Chosen Few in Korea, where he earned three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Mr. Moore was a founding member of the Toys for Tots in Indianapolis. His wife of 54 years, Anita (Snow) Moore, survives. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter in-law: Dr. Larry & Doris Moore, and Jon Moore. Four daughters and two sons-in-law: Mary Marlow, Sally Young, Caryn & John Stillman, Lara & Jeff Czap and a daughter in-law Jinger Moore. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents Harney Y. Moore and Mary Louise (Edmonds) Moore, a son David Moore, son in-law Kenny Young, Jr. and a sister Dorothy Eddy. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 26 from 4-8 PM. Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM Friday, February 27 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Pastor John Stillman will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorials may be given to Ruth Lilly Hospice, American Cancer Society or the Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
