William Russell Sparks, II, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital in Marion, Indiana. He was born September 4, 1967 in Rantoul, Illinois to William Russell and Joyce P. (Powell) Sparks and they survive him along with his maternal Grandmother, Helena Powell, daughter, Ashley Nicole Sparks; brother, Mark Allen Sparks, and several nieces and nephews. Russ was a United States Marine Corp veteran. He received many commendations for his service to the military. While on a recruiting assignment for the Marine Corp, he was involved in an automobile accident which left him disabled. Even through this tragic chain of events, he remained a steadfast Marine. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
