Wilma Jean Nelson, Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She was 92 years old. Wilma was born in Bloomington, IN to her parents Stanley and Dollie Mitchell. Wilma married her husband, Max Nelson, and together they shared 65 years of marriage until Max passed away in 2014.
Wilma worked as a key punch operator for Delco-Remy Anderson for over 20 years. Wilma was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church with her husband and family for several years. Wilma enjoyed reading romance novels and watching classic television and movies. Wilma was blessed to have a small circle of friends for many years. She was a loving Mamaw who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Teri-Ann Stoops; her grandchildren, Brad (Bejay) Rouse, Angie (Joey) Rouse Rodriguez, Matt (Shana) Stoops, Melissa (Manny) Stoops Tarango, Megan Stoops-Tucker; her great grandchildren, Kaylee Rouse, Joseph Rodriguez, Josiah Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Luke Rodriguez, Cameron Perry, Casey Perry, and Jeremy Tucker.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max Nelson; her daughter, Sandy Rouse; her grandson-in-law, Chad Tucker.
The graveside service for Wilma will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in the Ben Franklin Mausoleum Chapel at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:30 pm.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family would like to especially thank the dedicated caretakers that were there for Wilma in her time of need, Erin, Cami and Adrianne. They treated her like family and made a point to make her feel special and loved with everything they did.
